NE IL ARES
The Illinois Amateur Radio Emergency
Service® (ARES®) is a service provided
by the Illinois Section of the American
Radio Relay League (ARRL), the national organization
for amateur radio.
The Illinois Section Emergency Coordinator (SEC)
is Robert
"Pat" Ryan, KC6VVT. The Northeast District Emergency Coordinator (DEC) is
Robert "Bob"
Cockream, AB9EE, who lives in Grundy County.
The Northeast District covers the Chicago area suburbs, often referred to as "Chicagoland".
In addition, the district includes the surrounding counties that make up all of northeastern Illinois. Counties
in the Northeast District include: Boone, De Kalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Livingston,
McHenry, Will and Winnebago.
Cook County--containing the Chicago metropolitan area--is its own district and is led by Neil Ormos, N9NL, District Emergency Coordinator.
